I think this is the oldest Mercedes I’ve seen. How old is it?

Fintail to the front desk, please. Although I think this has different headlights than his.

I’m going to say 60s but no idea.

Well, the Fintail was 1959 to 1968 so somewhere in there. It’s one of the more basic ones.

This is a second series W110, model years 1965-68 in the US. Year and model are indeterminate as the cars didn’t change by model or year. I suspect the black plates are original to the car, I think the S prefix might put them around 1966. The 4 on the floor is a feature desired by some for these cars.

Oh, I see the blanking plate on the dash where the optional radio would go.  Looks like a 200 gas.

Jeezuz I feel old. My Mom had one of these with a column mounted shifter when I was a kid. I want to say it was a manual three on the tree. I was way too young to ever drive it - but I have fond memories of my Mom picking me up from school in it. It was a classy car with heavy doors and that rich smell of leather.

They had something like 70 or 80 horsepower, which seems ridiculously low, but they were relatively light and with a manual could get up to speed OK. Not like the diesel automatics. You could out-run a diesel automatic running backwards drunk, with one leg tied behind your back.

EDIT - they had the coolest Bat-fins on the rear! Great looking old Benz’s.
